German home and personal care manufacturer Henkel are offering to clean up local communities in the US as part of its social responsibility programme.
For the next two weeks anyone can nominate a neighbourhood or common area in need of an overhaul and the company will offer the manpower and time of volunteer employees in addition to payment for professional workers.
Consumers from all over the country will be able to access the company's touring bus that contains the manufacturers soap and detergent products to inspire their community clean up. The makeover's will include anything from planting flowers to picking up litter and creating green spaces for communities to share.
Henkel spokesperson Natalie Violi said: “ Our company vision is to make people's lives easier, better and more beautiful, so on top of the donating the money needed to get the job done, we will also be offering our time and manpower, which we feel can make even more of an impact than just the money”.
Since 2001, the company has paid time off to its staff to support volunteer efforts, setting aside one million euro's especially to support children and young people.
