Hallstar Beauty will be showcasing several of its newest innnovations at in-cosmetics Global in Paris, including Olivem® 2090, the cold-process, water-in-oil emulsifier that has been enthusiastically embraced by customers and formulators since its 2021 launch. Our technical seminar (April 6, 14:10 PM, Theatre 2) will focus on this unique ingredient (INCI: Polyglyceryl-4 Olivate/Polyricinoleate – a single substance rather than a blend or mixture) and challenge assumptions about W/O systems’ inherent formulating difficulties. Product Manager Anna D’Elia will illustrate why it is now possible to achieve completely natural, elegant W/O emulsions with light, biomimetic properties.
Developed by our Functional Naturals team in Italy, natural-derived Olivem® 2090 allows stable, hydrating, light but velvety products by creating a homogeneous layer that surrounds water droplets – making it an ideal emulsifier for skin care, baby care and make-up. Its excellent powder-wetting and dispersing properties allow easy, effective formulating for all skin types.
Olivem® 2090 has the added benefit of broad compatibility with sun care ingredients tested at a standard percentage. Its sensoriality, along with W/O emulsions’ innate waterproof properties, helps in developing light sunscreens, even those with high SPF levels. The comparable Olivem® 2090 G was created specifically for China regulatory approval, making this ingredient globally-compliant as well as COSMOS-approved.
