Swedish hair care brand Maria Nila has announced the opening of a new eco-friendly beauty factory for the manufacture of its products.
The 4,500sqm centre, located in southern Sweden, will allow the brand to quadruple its production capacity in a sustainable way.
Features at the new factory include a recyclable water supply system, a circular air condensation structure, allowing for residual heat to be transferred back into the production process, and a solar-panelled roof.
Speaking about the interior characteristics of the centre, CEO Marcus Wikström said: “The areas in this beauty hub are named after pioneers within sustainability and veganism to further highlight the Maria Nila mission of a friendlier world, such as the Watson Conference Hall, named after Donald Watson, the founder of the Vegan Society and the one who came up with the term ‘vegan’.”
The new centre is also expected to reach a capacity 5,000 products an hour, thanks to its latest machinery.
Maria Nila has also extended its partnership with Plan Vivo and Zeromission by investing in climate compensated projects.
This will include planting trees in deforested areas of South America, for every product sold.
Products in the brand’s line-up include shampoos and conditioners for specific hair care needs, waxes, soaps and styling products.
