FDA to host public meeting on testing methods for asbestos in talc

Asbestos-contaminated talc is a repeated source of concern in the beauty sector.

Personal care giant Johnson & Johnson paid out US$4.7bn in damages to 22 complainants in 2018, and this is just one of the more high profile cases in recent years.

In response, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been called to do more to ensure cosmetic companies are taking the appropriate action to ensure their talc is asbestos-free.
