Within the first six weeks of 2015, five cosmetic product recalls were reported in RAPEX, all listed as failing to conform with the EU cosmetic product regulations[1]. And yet, almost two years on from the deadline for conforming to Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, many – especially SMEs – choose to ignore the regulations, while others struggle to understand the requirements fully and remain only partially compliant.
