EPL sets standards in sustainable packaging development for FMCG

EPL Europe, part of the global manufacturer of laminated and extruded tubes headquartered in Mumbai, has had its innovative tube material r-PlatinaTM officially certified by RecyClass for a material thickness of 300μ with up to 60% PCR and 250μ with up to 50% PCR. The certification confirms that the tubes are sorted in the HDPE rigid stream (code 2) and have achieved the highest RecyClass rating of “A”.

The analysis and certification were carried out in accordance with the Design for Recycling  Guidelines for HDPE Rigid. EPL thus meets the requirements of the EU Plastics Regulation PPWR, which will in future require high recycling content in packaging – a decisive advantage for companies that want to market their products in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

“With the r-PlatinaTM tubes, we offer our customers an ideal solution for implementing the PPWR  requirements – including high recycled content and full recyclability. This means we already meet  the PPWR criteria for the second stage from 2038 onwards – both in terms of recyclability and the  required PCR content,” says Thomas Holling, New Product Development Europe.

r-PlatinaTM tubes are particularly suitable for cosmetics, oral hygiene, baby care, and household  tubes. They are available with various sustainable cap options and enable companies to design their packaging in an environmentally friendly way, thus making a direct contribution to the circular economy. EPL focuses on continuous material innovation to ensure the highest recycling standards.
