Colgate-Palmolive is allegedly exploring the sale of some of its personal care brands, including Softsoap and Speed Stick, in a deal rumoured to worth more than $1 billion, according to a new report

Colgate-Palmolive is rumoured to be exploring the potential sale of some of its personal care brands, according to a new report.

The alleged sale could see Colgate-Palmolive offload certain mass-market personal care brands within its portfolio, according to a report by Reuters.

This is rumoured to include hand and body soap brand Softsoap, deodorant soap and body wash brand Irish Spring, and men's deodorant brand Speed Stick.

Reuters reported that Colgate-Palmolive is allegedly working with investment bank Goldman Sachs to support the sale.

Should the rumoured sales go ahead, Colgate-Palmolive could fetch more than US$1bn as a result of the alleged dealing.Colgate-Palmolive’s roster of personal care brands currently includes Sanex, Palmolive, Protex and Tahiti, in addition to Softsoap, Irish Spring, Speed Stick and Lady Speed Stick.

The company also owns skin health brands PCA Skin, Elta MC Skincare and Fiorga, alongside a number of home care, pet care and oral care brands.

Cosmetics Business has reached out to Colgate-Palmolive for comment.
