Clinique, the Estée Lauder Companies-owned (ELC) skin care brand, is taking its efforts in sustainable luxury packaging to the next level by teaming up with heat and cool surface technology provider Roctool.
Utilised across various manufacturers including in the medical, design and car lighting fields, Roctool's patented technology works by controlling the temperature of moulds, which allows it to provide enhancements to a variety of surface finishes including ultra-thin, glossy, matte and textured surfaces, removing the need for secondary decoration options.
Now, Clinique will be the company's first prestige beauty partner by applying the technology to its hero Clarifying Lotion, which is said to reduce waste by 10-15% throughout the packaging process, allowing for a more sustainable and simplified packaging approach, according to ELC.
Daniel Ramos, Senior Vice President, Global Packaging at ELC said: “At The Estée Lauder Companies, we’re continually investing and innovating at every step of our packaging process to help drive more responsible packaging solutions that enable our brands to deliver high-quality, luxury experiences to our consumers.
“We’re working with industry partners like Roctool to help to improve our packaging design.
“From there, we’re leveraging our portfolio of brands to implement these best internal in-class practices at scale to be part of the solution and deliver packaging innovations that are better for both our consumers and the planet."
The new Clarifying Lotion bottle will be rolled out initially across European markets, while ELC said it plans to scale the technology globally to drive innovative packaging solutions across its brand portfolio, which includes the likes of Estée Lauder, MAC, Too Faced, Aveda, The Ordinary and more.
