Sensory properties and innovative textures continue to be at the forefront of the market trends. The way the product looks, feels, performs, affects the mood, creates a special "me time” experience and ambience all contribute to the sense of wellness. Convenience and ease of application is being increasingly sought by time pressured consumers as well as the health conscious demographic groups whether professional athletes or sporting enthusiasts.
Brenntag's new concept amply titled "Looking Good, Feeling Great" feature a range of innovative formulations under the key themes:
- Wellness for Beauty
- Sleep and Restore
- Food Inspired Textures
- Active Consumer: Beauty on the Go
Dr. Francois Bouton (Business Development Manager Cosmetics, EMEA) comments: "Today's consumers are pressured for time. Our lives are becoming fast-moving, and cosmetic products need to be high performing and provide solutions to every day problems that may come with modern lifestyles, such as to help fight daily pollution, provide restoring benefits during the precious times of rest, to improve visual appearance - all while being convenient, quick and easy to use. Texture and sensory benefits continue to fuel the innovation pipeline and provide endless opportunities for our European Innovation Centre Cosmetics to find new synergies between ingredients".
The new Creative Concept from Brenntag includes innovative products for multiple applications, and feature a number of formulations in ‘changing textures’ formats such as gel to foam, powder to foam, oil to gel. The team has looked at powders, both in the traditional colour cosmetics segment and formulation of other cosmetic products for the sensory qualities they give.
A growing consumer awareness of sustainability has also influenced personal attitudes and thus spending habits. Bouton says: "Across the life science industries we can see the trend towards healthier, wellness oriented lifestyles. We have looked at creating ideas with novel ingredients such as Cosmos/ECOCERT surfactants, renewable carbon sources, naturals and vegetable derivatives, as well as preservative boosters and natural choices for preservation, and have focused specifically on food inspired textures. We have further expanded our formulations library and are delighted to be bringing our new Creative Concept to 2017 to in-cosmetics global."
Over twenty novel formulations featuring skin creams, masks, body butters, hair care and styling, colour cosmetics, male grooming, and sun care will be presented. For more information visit Brenntag at in-cosmetics global on stand JJ30.
