UK health and beauty retailer Boots has introduced new safety measures for its stores during the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of its strategy, Boots will manage the number of customers allowed in-store and roll-out a wave of PPE including perspex screens to cover all counters, tills and self-checkouts.
Staff will also wear perspex visors, while hand sanitising stations are being trialled in-store and key touch points will be regularly cleaned.
“We’ve learnt a great deal over the last eight weeks and the additional measures we are putting in place will allow us to adapt to a radically different retail world,” said Boots’ Chief Operating Officer Tracey Clements.
“Many of the developments are based on feedback from our colleagues who are looking forward to welcoming back more customers.
“Hygiene, social distancing and protection for customers and colleagues continues to be our focus.”
Boots maintained that it would keep its stores open, despite closing some quieter branches, in order to deal with the high demand for health care products during the outbreak.
