Blepharoplasty in a bottle: The active ingredients offering the next best thing to surgery

2025 is the year of the blepharoplasty. But for those who are not ready to go under the scalpel, which ingredients for topical cosmetics are claiming to beautify the eye area?

Botox and fillers remain popular for enhancing the area around the eyes. However, surgical procedures, like upper blepharoplasties and brow lifts, are on the rise.

A recent report by RealSelf, an online marketplace for cosmetic treatment providers, noted a 324% year-over-year increase in searches for eyelid surgery last spring. Moreover, blepharoplasty has become the number one most-searched procedure so far in 2025.

Commenting on the upper eyelid and lower brow region, oculoplastic surgeon and facial aesthetics expert Dr Maryam Zamani, founder of the MZ Skin brand, describes the skin as “varied”.

“The skin on the actual eyelid is thinner than the skin just below the brow,” she tells Cosmetics Business.
