Aptar Beauty announces its newest packaging innovation, NeoDropper: a unique dropper that reinvents precision skincare and enhances the consumer experience. This launch marks the start of a new era for droppers that are even more efficient and more precise, responding to the development of ever more demanding concentrated formulas

A symbol of science and cutting-edge formulation, dropper packaging is everywhere on the beauty market, from mass to the most prestige product categories. The technology behind product delivery has seen minimal evolution for more than a century. Aptar Beauty was on a mission to tackle consumer paint points about formula protection, convenience and clean usage. NeoDropper was born out of this desire to improve the user experience of high-precision skincare packaging. This new-generation dropper is an innovative packaging solution that offers enhanced formula protection and a more controlled application.

A Dropper in Tune with Brands’ Major Challenges

The intuitiveness of the dropper gesture has been maintained, while the enhanced benefits of hygiene and precision have been added. When the bulb is pressed, the formula rises in the dip tube and fills the applicator. The dose is ready to be dispensed with a new press of the bulb.

Better Formula Protection

NeoDropper provides a multi-faceted and comprehensive response to the challenge of formula protection. The applicator does not come into direct contact with the formula in the bottle, which prevents retro-contamination by bacteria. Rigorous laboratory tests confirm NeoDropper’s effectiveness in safeguarding the product’s integrity. In addition, a unique system prevents the product from spilling, even if the bottle is overturned.

Better Dosage Control

Precision dosing is of crucial importance in premium skincare. To meet this requirement, NeoDropper is designed to deliver the right dose with a simple squeeze of the bulb. Its short applicator prevents the overflow of the formula and ensures better control when applying the dose, thereby offering an optimal user experience.

Customisation Options

The upper and lower collars are fully customizable to meet brands’ personalisation needs – anodising colors, double anodisation, brushed effect, silk-screening, lacquering and branding on metal. The bulb can also be customised – color and finish, even metallisation. NeoDropper can be paired with current dropper bottles in the market. The bottle selected for the launch is Oslo II, chosen among novelties from Heinz Glas. Aptar Beauty is committed to a proactive approach towards more sustainable product development. NeoDropper is compatible with glass recycling streams (subject to local capabilities).

A Tried-and-Tested Solution

A consumer study* to test the usage of NeoDropper Classic vs a traditional dropper packaging was conducted by Aptar among 17 female serum users of a well-known global leader in prestige beauty and highlighted key findings:

  • The primary benefit identified was the improved dosage facilitated by the new short applicator, which was perceived as easier to handle and aiding in using the correct amount of product.
  • The other benefits related to better protection of the formula and hygiene due to the sealed bottle design.

After using the product daily for two weeks, 15 respondents declared that they preferred NeoDropper over their current packaging and would be willing to pay 5 to 15€ more for it, demonstrating a strong preference for this new dropper.

Aptar continues further laboratory tests to expand the range of formulas compatible with NeoDropper, including foundations**.

Samples of NeoDropper Classic are now available with production expected in November 2024.
