Sojourner, a private equity firm, aims to position Lornamead as an independent entity to support future growth

Yardley London-owner Lornamead has been acquired by private equity firm Sojourner Consumer Partners for an undisclosed sum.

Lornamead, part of privately-held business Fung group, is a marketer of personal care brands and also owns Finesse, Aqua Net and Lypsyl.

The transaction represents a “strategic corporate carve-out”, with Sojourner intending to position Lornamead as an independent entity.

This will support the business for “renewed growth and brand revitalisation”, according to Sojourner.

“We are excited to complete this acquisition and welcome Lornamead into the Sojourner family,” said Rob DesMarais, Senior Partner of Sojourner.

“This acquisition aligns with our strategy of investing in established consumer brands that will benefit from dedicated resources and strategic guidance.

“We look forward to supporting their transition to an independent company and unlocking its full potential.”

Emily Fong Mitchell has been appointed Vice Chair of Lornamead.

Mitchell has two decades of experience with Colgate-Palmolive, where she held senior leadership roles across its personal and oral care categories.

The new company will maintain its manufacturing and office facilities in Tonawanda, New York.

“The carve-out from Meiyume marks a significant milestone for Lornamead, and I want to personally thank all of our talented and committed employees while welcoming our new partner,” added Randy Sloan, President of Lornamead since 2008.

“We are excited to leverage Sojourner’s industry and digital commerce expertise, and we are well-positioned as an organisation to embark on this new chapter and drive growth across our portfolio.”
