US and Brazil top the list for aesthetic procedures performed
New ISAPS study just released
The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) has released the results of its second International Study of Aesthetic/Cosmetic Surgery Procedures report which revealed that the United States is still the dominant country in this field, based on the number of cosmetic procedures performed by board certified (or the equivalent) plastic surgeons in 2010.
Brazil, China and Japan came next in that order while the UK only rated in sixteenth position. The report shows that some countries who had not always been so strongly associated with aesthetic plastic surgery are emerging as new players.
Of the procedures undertaken, lipoplasty is still the most performed procedure at 23%, followed by breast augmentation at 16% and then blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) at 11.5%.
