Consumer goods giant Unilever is combining its Chicago-based antiperspirant, deodorant and hair care group with its skin care business to create a new personal care business based at the company’s North American headquarters in New Jersey.
As a result of the integration, Unilever’s Chicago offices will close by July 2010.
This follows a series of integrations of Unilever businesses in recent years; supply chains were consolidated in 2008 and 2009 while the integration of offices in Connecticut and Illinois was announced in 2008.
“We have become a more unified, collaborative, and focused organisation and we are driving results,” comments Michael B Polk, president of Unilever Americas. “The decision to create a single personal care unit within the US business is in line with this progress and will leverage the resources and capabilities across our personal care brands to drive further growth.”
