Unilever boss to step down

Food and cosmetics giant Unilever today announced that chief executive Patrick Cescau will step down at the end of this year.


Food and cosmetics giant Unilever today announced that chief executive Patrick Cescau will step down at the end of this year.

Replacing Cescau will be Paul Polman, currently executive vice president at Swiss competitor Nestlé. Polman’s appointment requires shareholder approval at a meeting later in 2008.

Cescau said that he had achieved most of his goals, adding, “now is a good time to pass on the reins”.
