Beauty subscription service Ipsy has brought television’s most famous flapper caricature into the beauty arena with a dedicated line of colour cosmetics.
Betty Boop was dubbed a cultural icon after making her debut in 1930 in the cartoon series Dizzy Dishes.
On-screen, she represented a new generation of the roaring twenties, which was sexually autonomous and outspoken.
This is said to be reflected in the new range.
“Betty Boop is a timeless beauty and fashion icon, and we are so excited by the collection with Ipsy, a brand that is all about confidence and being bold - just like Betty,” said Carla Silva, Global Head of Licensing at media firm King Feature Syndicate, the company which owns the rights to Betty Boop.
She added: “We are thrilled by this latest collaboration and bringing Betty’s signature look and feel to new beauty consumers.”
Included in the collection are three lipsticks in matte and satin, shimmer lip glosses, individual eyeshadows, an eight-shade eyeshadow palette, liquid eyeliner, mascara and nail polish (from US$8).
Jenna Habayeb Ipsy’s Chief Brand Officer added: “Betty Boop is one of those iconic female figures that spans multiple generations.
“She translates so naturally into beauty and we’re thrilled to bring this collection to our members.”
MAC Cosmetics previously launched a lipstick dedicated to Betty Boop’s signature pout.
The new range will be available in Ipsy’s October Glam Bag and to buy from throughout October via ipsy.com.
