Tom Ford has appointed Haider Ackermann as Creative Director.
Ackermann succeeds Peter Hawkings at the Estée Lauder Companies (ELC)-owned fashion and beauty brand.
Hawkings left the role in July, less than a year after taking the reins from Tom Ford’s eponymous founder.
Ackermann, who was also appointed Creative Director at Canada Goose in May this year, is best-known for his eccentric, modern tailoring.
The Colombian-born French designer’s fans and muses include actors Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet.
In 2021, Ackermann and Chalamet co-created a hoodie for Afghanistan Libre, with 100% of the proceeds dedicated to preserving the rights of Afghan women and girls.
Ackermann's CV also includes a three-season stint leading creative at LVMH-owned men’s fashion house Berluti, which ended in 2018, and creating men’s and women’s collections under his own eponymous brand.
In a post on ELC’s Instagram page, Ackermann said: “It is with tremendous pride that I will seek to honour the legacy of Tom Ford, a man I have long admired and have the utmost respect for.
“I am much looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Tom Ford, who launched his namesake brand in 2005, added: “I have long been a great fan of Haider’s work.
“I find both his womenswear and menswear equally compelling.
“He is an incredible colourist, his tailoring is sharp and above all he is modern.
“We share many of the same historical references, and I could not be more excited to see what he does with the brand.
“I suspect that I will be the first on my feet to applaud after his show in March.”
Ackermann’s debut fashion collection for the brand will be at Paris Fashion Week in March 2025.
The news follows Tom Ford Beauty’s signing of actor and filmmaker Angelina Jolie as the face of its Runway Lip Colour range.
A campaign promoting the brand’s new hydrating 18-shade lipstick collection, and starring Jolie wearing Runway Lip Color shade 16 Scarlet Rouge, launched earlier this month.
