Cosmetic Technicians play a crucial role across the cosmetic science, formulation, and manufacturing sectors. They work at the cutting edge of product innovation - whether in the lab or supporting production - carrying out both routine and specialised testing and providing vital technical support throughout their organisation.
Industry-Focused Training
Mapped to the nationally recognised Laboratory Technician Standard, the programme combines Tiro’s scientific training with SCS-authored modules, giving apprentices the technical skills and scientific understanding needed for formulation, testing, and innovation in cosmetics.
Flexible, Work-Based Learning
Apprentices are employed in relevant roles, allowing them to apply learning on the job. Weekly start dates and a typical completion time of 14 months provide flexibility for employers, while the first SCS module is fully funded by Tiro.
Funding and Support
Non-levy employers can access 95% government funding, with levy transfers covering 100% of training costs for larger organisations. Apprentices typically earn between £18,000–£21,000, with three hours of protected study time each week.
Recruitment Made Simple
Tiro manages sourcing, screening, and placement of candidates, with vacancies promoted through major job boards and industry networks. The programme is open to both new recruits and existing staff seeking upskilling or retraining.
Investing in the Future of Cosmetic Science
Apprenticeships enhance organisational capability, staff retention, and workforce motivation. Supporting employees through this programme develops scientifically confident, technically skilled professionals ready to contribute to innovation, quality, and safety across the cosmetic industry.
