If you don’t have one yourself, you probably know someone that does. Tattoos are as popular as ever, with people of all ages willing to face the needle in the name of self-expression and body art.
According to YouGov, 24% of US consumers and 19% of those in the UK today are inked. The trend is more popular among younger generations with 32% of 18-44 year-olds in the US having at least one tattoo, double the number of those aged 45 and over. It’s safe to say the tattoo industry is well and truly buzzing.
But we’ve all heard the horror stories. A misspelt mantra, infected needles and the natural ageing process of the skin – not to mention outright regret. As more people turn to tattoo removal – a growing sector that has prompted a whole television series in the UK, Tattoo Fixers – the skin is put under even more strain.
