Symrise claims resveratrol effects but greater stability
New natural from Echinacea purpurea
Symrise is promising prevention of long-term skin damage with its new natural ingredient SymFinity 1298 [INCI: Echinacea purpurea extract], claimed to provide skin protection and an overall healthy radiance.
“We were looking for an active ingredient that was comparable in effect to resveratrol but more stable, easier to formulate and more cost efficient,” says Marielle le Maire, global product director, Symrise Life Essentials. Echinacea purpuea (100% dried juice of fresh coneflower) is said to provide that. According to Symrise, SymFinity 1298 brings balance to the skin by enhancing its own defence and preventing an overreation in stress situations, minimising the deleterious effects of environmental and physiological stress, so protecting against fine lines and wrinkles, and providing superior antioxiant and anti-irritant benefits, preventing age spots and uneven skin tone.
Symrise says the material’s efficacy has been confirmed in-vitro and ex-vivo, creaing a significant improvement in the skin’s defence against UVB stress after just 48 hours. SymFinity 1298 can be used in a wide range of anti-ageing products with a recommended dose of 0.1%.
