Plastic surgeon releases educational video series, Through the Surgeon’s Eye, to improve transparency

Plastic surgeon Dr Matthew Galumbeck is releasing a series of educational videos on YouTube for consumers considering plastic surgery.

Shot from the perspective of the surgeon, the series aims to increase transparency in the industry and demonstrate each procedure.

The first episode shows a breast augmentation procedure (below).

Viewers can watch a cosmetic procedure filmed with a head-mounted camera. The series is called: Through the Surgeon’s Eye.

The videos are also available through the Galumbeck Plastic Surgery website.

Galumbeck said: “For people on the fence about getting a plastic surgery procedure, and even for medical school students considering a cosmetic surgery path, watching actual operations narrated by the surgeon is a very powerful informational tool in making those decisions.”

The surgeon also said that the videos provide an alternative to the before and after pictures usually used to advertise procedures.

He said: “I feel like too many surgery websites only show post-surgery examples as a sales tool, I want to have a conversation about goals and expectations with men and women considering plastic surgery.”

Galumbeck also believes that the videos will better prepare consumers ahead of a procedure. He said: “I believe that these step-by-step videos will help me to better inform potential patients on their procedure, and thereby help us achieve better results in each operation.”
