Japanese beauty company Shiseido has seen its domestic sales fall 19% from the same month a year ago.
According to the brand, while over-the-counter sales achieved a level that was on par with the previous year, sales declined from last year in all product categories.
Despite this, the company is looking to grow over-the-counter sales by launching new products and bolstering sales promotions in line with a gradual recovery in consumer confidence.
Internationally, the picture is more positive. During the July-September quarter, demand in the Americas remained firm in line with a moderate recovery in consumer spending. Sales increased year on year in Asia and Oceania, while holding steady in the Americas and Europe during the quarter.
