The UK’s Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) has announced that it will run a free digital event lifting the lid on what it’s like to work in the cosmetics industry.
Taking place on 28 January at 18.00 UK time, the inaugural SCS Cosmetic Careers Event will be lead by Lissie Dufton, who is Brand Manager at Surfachem, as well as an SCS Council Member on both the Education & Scientific Programme Committees.
Students and those who are new to the industry or interested in getting involved will get the opportunity to hear from speakers including Prof Paul Matts (Procter & Gamble), Francesca Rapolla (CTPA), Pippa Harman (Renude), Marianne Cadau (Oriflame), Paul Cornwell (TRI Princeton) and brand consultant Sarah Clark Martin.
Topics will include the experts’ interests, how they began their cosmetics journey, the passions and pitfalls of their work and what a ‘day in the life of’ looks like.
"The SCS is passionate about encouraging and supporting anyone who is interested in a career in the cosmetic industry,” said Dufton.
“That's why we are providing this free open access event to give a snapshot of the brilliant people who are busy shaping it and making our industry so multifaceted.
“It can be hard to know where to take any career, and the speakers will share some wisdom of their own path and what they do daily.
“Whether you are a person of business, science, logic, problem solving, creativity, designer (or all!), there will be something shared to insight and inspire you.
“The event also highlights how our unique industry fits around the individual. Primarily aimed at students – in the cosmetic science field or other – everyone is welcome.”
