App lets users 'test out' a lipstick shade before committing to buying

Australian lipstick brand RED Burlesque has developed a new app that enables users to ‘test out’ a lipstick shade before buying.

The RED Lipstick app uses smart lip-tracking technology to allow consumers to try on 20 of their lipstick shades via their iPhones or iPads.

The app has three main features: the first is a ‘selfie’ feature, which lets the user take a photo of themselves, then virtually place a shade of lipstick on their lips; ‘What’s my shade’ guides the user through questions that helps them select the right shade of red lipstick for their skin tone; finally the app also works as a ‘make-up mirror’ with a zoom function for precise lipstick application on the go.

The app also includes a purchasing function; the consumer can go on to buy a shade of RED Burlesque lipstick after they have tested it out. The app is free to download via the iTunes App Store.
