High factor sun protection sales have soared in many countries over the past two years as consumers grow increasingly aware of the potential damage that sun exposure can cause to the skin. Brazil, which according to Euromonitor overtook the $1.66bn US sun care market as the world's largest, racking up $1.75bn in sales, has seen its share of SPF30+ product sales rise from 29% in 2009 to 38% in 2014. Over in China, SPF 50+ sun protection accounted for a 26% share in 2014, up from 18% in 2009. And in Europe, the desire for high-factor protection spiked dramatically in 2015.
