Patricia Mansfield-Devine reports on the latest fragrance from the Italian fragrance house

Italian couture house Roberto Cavalli is releasing Gold Edition, the latest in the Roberto Cavalli line of fragrances. The most expensive yet, this iteration has a head note of saffron, animal notes and oud in the heart and a base note of incense. Only three examples of the fragrance will be made and the firm has not divulged pricing information, though it is expected that this luxury edition will appeal to the Middle East market.

The bottle and cap, which come in the usual design, are gilded with white gold leaf. Around the neck of the bottle there is a detachable collar, which can be worn as a ring or a pendant and which is studded with 138 white diamonds and 121 black diamonds. The bottle is accompanied by a minaudière case, designed by Roberto Cavalli and made of gold-plated brass with a crocodile imprint. Both bottle and minaudière are presented in another case with a brown leather exterior and leopard-print interior.

The original Roberto Cavalli edp was launched in 2012 and has since built into a collection including Roberto Cavalli Acqua (2013), Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto (2013) and Roberto Cavalli Exotica (2014).
