The winners of this year's British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) Awards have been announced. The awards recognise the best work in the UK aerosol industry and are judged by a panel of independent industry experts.
Winners included PZ Cussons and Swallowfield, which jointly scooped the top prize of Aerosol of the Year with the first plastic aerosol shower gel, Foamburst Shower Gel. The judges said: "The product looks and feels good. It also gives additional consumer benefit because the product works as shower gel and shaving foam so less to pack when travelling".
Plastipak and nordictan came second in the top category, with the first plastic aerosol container that complies with the new FEA technical specifications. The pack was said to create a fine mist to help consumers achieve an even tan.
Elsewhere, Aptar Beauty topped the Innovation Category for its hoodless accessory technology, with the Runner's Up prize awarded to Cascade Technologies for its Dynamic Rate Analyser that measures leak rates and locates the leak itself. The judges said that this was "clearly a major step forward in assessing problems".
Patrick Heskins, Chief Executive of BAMA, said: "This is my first year of witnessing the BAMA Awards within the Secretariat rather than as a BAMA member. It makes me extremely proud to see the continuous striving for excellence, innovation and greater sustainability in so many different areas of the industry. I congratulate all winners and runners up and thank those companies who submitted an entry. I would also like to express my gratitude to our team of expert judges for the time, thought and constructive review of our entrants".
