A new operetta is to open in the UK, which pokes fun at the world of cosmetic surgery. Skin deep, written by comedian Armando Iannucci and composed by David Sawer – is a tongue in cheek look at the lengths consumers will go to to preserve their youthful appearance but may not be amusing to all members of the industry.

Skin deep, written by comedian Armando Iannucci and composed by David Sawer – is a tongue in cheek look at the lengths consumers will go to to preserve their youthful appearance but may not be amusing to all members of the industry.

The duo say the operetta explores the fear of death and society’s obsession with vanity as well as what happens when plastic surgery goes wrong. The plot centres around the unscrupulous fictional plastic surgeon Dr Needlemeier, who removes body parts from his patients to create an elixir of eternal youth.
