Inspired by the nopal, Mexico's native superfood cactus, Nopalera founder Sandra Velasquez is on a mission to elevate her family's culture and pay homage to the country's symbolic plant.

The nopal cactus – also known as the prickly pear cactus – has long been used for cooking and making textiles, but it has now been proven to be just as versatile in cosmetics from soaps to exfoliants.
Here, Velasquez shares her brand purpose and tips for other budding beauty entrepreneurs.
