French spa and skin care brand Nuxe has stepped up its anti-ageing offering with a new fluid, said to "recharge the batteries of the skin." Speaking at the London launch, brand founder Aliza Jabez described the launch of its new Nuxellence Jeunesse Youth and Radiance Revealing Fluid as a major scientific breakthrough for the brand and the first time that any skin care brand has been able to repair mitochondrial DNA – a key element in the production of energy within skin cells. According to Nuxe, repairing and protecting mitochondrial DNA daily is essential to recharging the skin's youthful and radiant appearance.
The fluid was first launched in France in April, and according to Jabez, is already the number one anti-ageing product in pharmacies. The brand is hoping to replicate this success in the UK, and earlier this year, established a UK subsidiary to drive growth in the market.
In order to achieve the cell recharging effect, the brand identified three flower extracts; passionflower, anchusa and poppy, finding that they helped to repair damaged mitochondrial DNA by 43 per cent.
The formula also uses calendula petals, hyaluronic acid and galangal leaves to help diminish and smooth wrinkles and fine lines, while the use of cocoa cells and olive leaves help to even out the complexion.
Nuxellence Jeunesse launches in January 2013 priced at £46. It will be rolled out to the brand's various points of distribution in the UK, including independent pharmacies, Space NK and Marks & Spencer Your Beauty stores.
