Make-up brand MAC and Procter & Gamble’s hair care labels My Black is Beautiful (MBIB) and Gold Series are the latest beauty names to pledge their allegiance to Wakanda.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to Marvel Studios’ 2018 sensation Black Panther, hits cinemas on 11 November and to mark the release, MAC is launching a limited-edition collaboration with Marvel.
The 10-sku collection, which is available to buy from 1 November at select MAC stores and ASOS, includes four cream lipsticks, four liquid lipsticks, gold lip gloss, an eight-pan eyeshadow palette, two liquid eyeliners, one kohl eyeliner, two brushes, two shades of highlighting powder and a make-up bag.
The eyeshadow palette features jewel tones, earthy mattes and metallics, inspired by the colours, characters and textures of Wakanda, and is housed in packaging inspired by the famous Black Panther suit.
The lipstick comes in four shades: Wakandan Sunset (fuchsia), Dora Milaje (matte blue-red), Royal Integrity (matte warm chocolate) and Story Of Home (pinkish neutral), while MAC’s Love Me Liquid Lipcolour gets a Wakandan makeover with The Shadows (black), Thicker Than Water (blood red), Show Off (red-bronze) and Wakanda Forever (vibrant purple).
“Like the vibrant world of Wakanda, #MACxWakandaForever features lavish, saturated hues that look fantastic on everyone – especially those with rich skin tones,” Fatima Thomas, MAC Senior Artist, said of the collection.
P&G also collaborated with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on special product packs for MBIB’s Golden Milk Collection and the Gold Series Core Collection, which will retail Target, Walmart and Kroger in the US.

Additionally, MBIB and Gold Series have teamed up with the film’s hair department head Camille Friend for a media campaign.
Friend’s work has featured in several Marvel films, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
Friend will work with the brands on media engagement leading up to the film’s release, discussing the power of hair, how it shapes identity, as well as hair styling and care tips.
“With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, black men, women and children across the world will see themselves depicted on the big screen with empowering stories of triumph and celebrating black joy,” said Lela Coffey, Procter & Gamble VP, North America hair care and multicultural brands.
Both brands’ collections follow nail company Pear Nova’s launch of a new nail collection earlier this week, also inspired by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Pear Nova’s line-up features three products, with the colour scheme of each based on different characters from the series.
Each package contains 24 almond-shaped luxury faux nails, one nail file and buffer, one cuticle stick and one nail glue.
“From Wakanda’s rich culture to female governance, I was completely inspired by their world and everything in it. In creating our first collection of Layovers, I wanted to pay homage to the story that inspired so many and express the adoration I felt for Black Panther and Wakanda,” said Pear Nova founder and CEO Rachel James of the launch.
