The importance of mental health has been brought to the fore since the world was brought to its proverbial knees by the Covid-19 pandemic.

While stay at home orders and lockdowns provided an opportunity to break the career hamster wheel for many, the outbreak of the virus, which has taken 3.29 million lives worldwide, was a wake-up call to the fragility of mental health.

Skin care expert, Nadav Shraibom, the founder of natural skin care brand Medovie, reported a 400% increase in people requesting a skin care consultation, with 70% of those consumers believing their flare ups were stress-related due to the pandemic.

“With the pandemic has come increased alcohol and drug use, money worries and relationship issues, all of which are known stress triggers that have an inevitable knock on effect on our skin health,” he said.

And with beauty and wellness being more intrinsically linked than ever before, Cosmetics Business has rounded up the beauty brands that are doing their bit to ensure consumers are looking after their mental health.
