The skin and hair care ingredient is a by-product of the wine industry

Olvea has added Grapeseed Oil (Vitis vinifera) to its line-up of vegetable oils and butters for cosmetics.

The upcycled ingredient is derived from wine production, which generates a by-product called grape pomace. This solid (usually discarded) product contains the seeds from which the oil can be extracted.

COSMOS approved and 100% natural according to ISO 16128, the oil’s highly functional properties make it a great addition to skin and hair care formulations, according to Olvea.

The beauty world is witnessing growing demand for upcycled ingredients generally, with the drinks industry increasingly getting in on the act.
