Lush has created a new bathing collection inspired by Nintendo's popular Super Mario Bros. video game franchise.

The launch comes ahead of an official Mario Bros.film created by Illumination Entertainment, the film studio behind Despicable Me, which releases on 5 April.

A Princess Peach body spray is included in the range, which has been formulated with a blend of peaches and pineapple.

The Mario and Luigi shower gels, meanwhile, feature vibrant green and red colours based on the brother’s signature outfits.

A first for Lush is the Question Block bath bomb, which contains a hidden collectable power-up soap which can be revealed after placing it into water.

The collection is rounded off with a Gold Coin soap bar, which uses the brand’s Honey I Washed the Kids’ scent.

“The collection is innovative and iconic with surprise and delight elements inspired by the film, and we can’t wait for the reaction from fans,” said Stephanie Kraus, SVP Global Design and Product Development, Universal Products & Experiences.

Lush has been ramping up its collaboration retail strategy over the past year.

In November 2022 the body care brand released a limited edition Stranger Things bath bomb collaboration.

Two months earlier Lush launched a bath range inspired by the hit Japanese pirate manga One Piece, in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary this year.

The licensing collaboration with an entertainment company was a first for the British cosmetics retailer.

Super Mario was created by Japanese video game developer Shigeru Miyamoto, and made his first appearance as ‘Jumpman’ in the 1981 arcade-classic, Donkey Kong.

In 1985, Super Mario Bros. would launch onto the Nintendo Entertainment System home console, revitalising the video game industry following its crash two years prior.

The franchise has gone to spawn numerous titles and spin offs, including the popular Mario Kart series.
