Importing cosmetic products into the EU?

An importer is any natural or legal person established within the Community who places a cosmetic product from a third country on the Community market (EU Regulation 1223/2009/EC, Article 2.1i). It is the responsibility of the importer to ensure the safety of cosmetic products, from production to when they reach their destination in the EU and their final distribution point.
