The delicate skin on our lips requires moisturising and exfoliating, just like anywhere else on the body or face. Cue lip scrub.

However, if not formulated with due attention, lip scrubs can be messy, chunky and wasteful.

Pauline Paterson, co-founder and New Product Development Lead at Dr.PAWPAW reveals how her brand created a smooth, moreish scrub to satisfy customer demand.

How to make a lip scrub

When it comes to creating a successful lip scrub, first and foremost the initial ideas need to be driven by what your customers are asking for.

For years the Dr.PAWPAW community had been asking us over and over again to create a lip scrub that would compliment our range of results-led multi-tasking balms. With the demand clear to us from our existing fanbase we needed to really make sure we got it right.

The next step was a whole lot of research. Months and months of testing every lip scrub on the market from all around the world that I could get my hands on. It was through trying so many that I could really pin down what I liked, what I didn’t like and asking our community what their personal preferences were. From this I could gauge how it would be received by our customers.
