Holland & Barrett sold to L1 Retail for £1.77bn

Europe’s largest health and wellness retailer sold by The Nature’s Bounty Co and The Carlyle Group

Holland & Barrett, the health, beauty and wellness retail chain, has been acquired by L1 Retail in a £1.77bn deal.

The transaction between the LetterOne (L1) retail investment arm and previous owners The Nature’s Bounty Co and The Carlyle Group is expected to close in September.

Holland & Barrett saw annual revenues exceed £610m in 2016, representing 32 consecutive quarters of growth.

Today it is Europe’s largest health and wellness retailer, and has invested in expanding its beauty offerings with brands including Dr Organic, yes to, Beauty Kitchen, Zoya and Pacifica, among others.
