Findings from the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) report a double digit increase in cosmetic surgery procedures carried out in Britain in 2013, and a 41% increase in liposuction.
The statistics show that this number of procedures has not been seen since pre-recession 2008.
The number of cosmetic operations last year increased 17% on average, with no decrease in the number of any given procedure carried out. The total number of surgeries carried out rose above 50,000 – a rise of 16.5% overall.
Breast augmentation procedures increased by 13% despite the PIP breast implant scandal just two years before. Eyelid surgery was up by 14%, face and neck lifts by 13%, fat transfer (where fat is injected into the face to add volume) by 15%, and brow lifts by 17%.
