CPL Aromas revealed it intends to merge GFL’s operations in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona with its existing CPL Aroma’s Spain business to create one division.
GFL was launched by Nelly Di Mercurio López in 2010, and creates and manufactures scents for the perfumery, home care, personal care and air fresheners sectors.
Its speciality is scents made in a sustainable manner.
GFL currently has 19 employees who will be retained under the terms of the acquisition.
“Global Fragrances Labs are a complimentary business to our own in Spain, we share similar visions for the future of fragrance and our values align,” said Nick Pickthall, Chief Operating Officer of CPL Aromas.
“GFL have a strong reputation for quality and customer service, and combined with CPL’s strengths it will offer our domestic customers in Spain a comprehensive experience.”
Di Mercurio López added: “We are so happy with this agreement, and we know that it will be an opportunity, not only for CPL’s growth but for our customers to grow with them.”
CPL Aromas operates 22 sites globally, employing more than 750 people.
It produces fragrance concentrates for use in fine fragrances, personal care products and household applications.
The deal is the most recent in a series of buyouts in the fragrance-making sector, including CPL Aroma’s purchase of the Brazilian subsidiary of perfume manufacturer Chemarome, Chemarome Brasil, last year.
2020, meanwhile, saw specialty chemicals company Croda snap up Spain’s Iberchem.
