Published: 28-Apr-2023

BASF’s Care Chemicals division will present innovative and sustainable solutions for the personal care industry at the 2023 New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day starting May 2, 2023, at the Javits Center in New York City

“As part of a greater movement to focus on what’s important and form deeper connections, consumers want visibility into their brand’s sustainability efforts, starting with the ingredients,” said Nader Mahmoud, Vice President, Personal Care Solutions, North America at BASF. “BASF is leading the way in accountability and transparency as a personal care ingredients supplier. With our commitment to renewal and wellness as well as sustainable, traceable, and innovative ingredients, we are helping formulators provide their customers with what they expect from their personal care products.”

BASF will exhibit at Booth 819 under the theme “Reimagine what matters” featuring its Care 360⁰ solutions:

Verdessence™ portfolio, a wide range of biopolymers suitable for applications such as hair care, skin care, oral care and color cosmetics. The ingredients in this portfolio are biobased, biodegradable, and COSMOS-approved.

In addition to its extensive and efficacious specialty actives portfolio, BASF will showcase two new, innovative bioactive ingredients based on harnessing beneficial bacteria, Lactobacillus crispatus: Probiolift™ probiotic and Postbiolift™ post-biotic. These actives are true-living and non-living solutions respectively, that support the appearance of younger, fuller, and more elastic skin.

BASF will feature its broad emulsifier portfolio that consists of single-ingredient emulsifiers and emulsion bases. These bases include co-emulsifiers and waxes, highlighting the new non-ethoxylated, polyglycerol emulsifier for O/W formulations, Emulgade® Verde 10MS, a naturally derived, readily biodegradable and versatile ingredient in many personal care applications.

To address their customer’s desire to meet consumers’ demand for opacifying and pearlizing effects without using pigments, BASF will present its first wax-based pearlizer, Euperlan® NL Pearl. Not only is it biodegradable and COSMOS-approved, but also suitable for EO-free and sulfate surfactant alternative applications. The ingredient has outstanding attributes in hair care applications, especially on wet and dry combing tests, anti-hair breakage measurements and suppleness tests.

Finally, BASF will highlight various digital solutions such as Itz Traceable which enables an end-to-end traceability solution through blockchain technology, and D’lite digital subscription service, the digital solution that combines market insight with scientific knowledge as the leading supplier, accelerating the market analysis and product development processes.

The market is evolving, and BASF has the insights to stay ahead of tomorrow’s demands. This is just one recent example of how Care Chemicals is addressing future challenges. Sustainability, digitalisation, innovation and new approaches to working together are the key cornerstones to Care 360°– Solutions for Sustainable Life.
