Natura founder scoops eco-friendly business accolade

Guilherme Leal, founder of Brazilian cosmetics company Natura, has been recognised for his environmental commitment, after being awarded the Planet Award at the Americas Business Council Foundation (ABC) awards, which celebrates progress and achievement in the Americas


Guilherme Leal, founder of Brazilian cosmetics company Natura, has been recognised for his environmental commitment, after being awarded the Planet Award at the Americas Business Council Foundation (ABC) awards, which celebrates progress and achievement in the Americas

Leal was chosen to due to his “merging of sound business models with environmental conservation” after he helped to establish ESCAS, a graduate school which educates leaders to create innovative models for the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development. He has also been the brains behind the launch of the Instituto Arapyau, a new social venture organisation which focuses on education and sustainable development.

A spokesperson for the awards said: “Environmental sustainability is impossible without having businesses involved in the process and in this regard, Mr Leal is a pioneer.”
