Movie star Naomi Watts hopes to break the silence and shame surrounding the menopause this autumn via the launch of her Stripes brand.
The result of a collaboration with synthetic biotech company Amyris, Stripes’ website promises ‘science-backed products’ in addition to a community and education drive.
The 11-sku range is slated to launch 11 October, according to Happi, with a line-up comprising cooling face mist, thickening scalp treatment and body oils.
Speaking about the brand’s founding message in July 2021, upon the partnership's announcement, the Mulholland Drive star said: “The shame and lack of community surrounding menopause has made me feel alone, confused and overwhelmed.
“The belief that menopause means a woman's time is up is ludicrous and should not exist.
“In partnering with Amyris, we're endeavouring to equip all phases of menopause with products, tools and resources that make us feel celebrated and empowered, both physically and emotionally.
“No one should walk through this alone.”
This is not Watts’ first foray into the beauty world; in 2014, she co-founded ‘clean’ beauty retailer ONDA Beauty with Larissa Thompson and Sarah Bryden-Brown.
Amyris purchased ONDA Beauty in April this year.
The Stripes label will be available via Amazon, ONDA Beauty and iamstripes.com.
Watts is further tackling the menopause conversation by joining forces with Em & Friends on the Naomi Watts Menopause Collection of themed greeting cards.
