Merck has turned its existing exclusive contract with Sol-Gel Technologies in Israel into licensing agreement.

This arrangement allows Merck to manufacture Sol-Gel’s UV_Pearls, a product that incorporates a technology developed by Sol-Gel Technologies to encapsulate UV absorbers.

“This is an important achievement for Sol-Gel,” said Alon Seri-Levy, co-founder and ceo of Sol-Gel. “After these years of successful collaboration, we are proud that Merck has chosen to increase it commitment to our controlled and highly efficient encapsulation technology.”

Merck plans to construct a new production facility in Darmstadt, Germany to expand the current UV-Pearls portfolio.
