Oxygen is the most vital element to skin. The body uses oxygen to fuel cellular metabolism, heal damage, fuel cell turnover, and energise collagen and elastin production.

Skin receives oxygen via haemoglobin in the blood and as we age, less oxygen is delivered to skin[1].

The decline of oxygen in skin cells impacts cellular metabolism which, in turn, can deplete collagen and elastin production, as well as cellular repair and turnover.

It is the decline of oxygen in skin that is a root cause of the signs of ageing: sagging skin, wrinkles and discoloration.
