Make-up specialist Prescriptives is to be wound down after parent company The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) announced it no longer believed the long-term business model for the brand was viable.

ELC has said it will discontinue the manufacture and wholesale distribution of the brand by the end of January next year, although it will continue to sell Prescriptives products online in the US while stocks last.

The Prescriptives brand was founded in the 1970s and is distributed in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia. ELC’s decision to close the brand is part of an existing strategy of re-evaluation across its entire product portfolio to improve return on investments.
