German speciality chemicals company Lanxess has set up a new Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) business unit following its acquisition of Emerald Kalama Chemical.
In addition to the unit for aroma and fragrance chemicals, Lanxess has announced the expansion of its range of preservatives for cosmetics and personal applications, as well as for food and household, as a result of the purchase.
Announced in February, Lanxess’ acquisition of US-based Emerald means it is now a leading supplier of aroma products including aldehydes and benzoates. The product range includes more than 30 aroma chemicals that provide earthy, floral, fruity or even spicy-tart notes.
The F&F unit will be headed by Holger Hüppeler, who has a background in marketing, sales and logistics.
“Lanxess has decades of experience in technology and manufacturing to reliably serve our customers with synthetic chemicals and consistently deliver high-quality ingredients,” commented Hüppeler.
Boosting the company’s presence in key sales markets, meanwhile, is the gain of three Emerald production sites in Washington (US), Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Widnes (UK).
