Cosmetics giant L’Oréal has refuted allegations it lightened Beyoncé Knowle’s skin tone for an advertisement.

The singer, who has been a spokesperson for the L’Oréal Paris brand since 2001, appears in a Feria hair colour advertisement for the September issue of Elle magazine, with a noticeably light complexion, sparking rumours that she has been digitally lightened.

“We highly value our relationship with [Beyoncé]. It is categorically untrue that L’Oréal Paris altered features or skin tone in the campaign,” a L’Oréal spokesperson said.
