L'Occitane Group has appointed Laurent Marteau its new Group CEO.
Marteau will take on the new position at the beauty giant on 1 April 2024, which combines the responsibilities of CEO and Group MD into one role.
He will replace André J Hoffmann, who has acted as Group CEO since 2021.
A statement from the L'Occitane Group said the merging of roles “sustains the company's transformation into a geographically balanced, multi-brand group”.
Marteau is a beauty veteran, with more than 20 years’ industry experience.
He joined L'Occitane in 2022 as Group MD, with the aim to accelerate the company’s omnichannel strategy in key markets.
Marteau has also worked for the LVMH Group for 15 years in various senior management roles globally.
He then joined the La Prairie Group in 2014 as VP for Global Travel Retail & Special Channels.
“As our group grows, we need to evolve,' said Reinold Geiger, Chair of the L'Occitane Group.
“Laurent embodies the group's entrepreneurial mindset and deep commitment to people and nature.
“His in-depth knowledge of the global market, combined with an inclusive leadership style, makes him a strong CEO to bring together a multi-brand and multicultural group.
“Delivering value for all our stakeholders.”
Hoffmann will remain an Executive Director and member of the L'Occitane Board.
“I want to thank André, my business partner of almost 30 years, for his leadership during his time as CEO,” said Geiger.
“In recent years, André has led the company towards its strategic objectives, including its geographical expansion.
“And has been instrumental in the successful acquisition and integration of new brands such as Elemis, Sol de Janeiro and Grown Alchemist.”
L’Occitane Group has recently expanded its presence in the luxury home fragrance market too with the acquisition of Dr. Vranjes Firenze.
