Kemira acquires TRI-K

Finnish speciality chemicals company Kemira has acquired TRI-K, the US distributor and producer of speciality cosmetic ingredients, for an undisclosed sum.


Finnish speciality chemicals company Kemira has acquired TRI-K, the US distributor and producer of speciality cosmetic ingredients, for an undisclosed sum.

“This acquisition provides Kemira with an excellent platform to expand its cosmetics business,” says Pekka Ojanpää, president of Kemira Specialty. “Kemira is one of the leading suppliers of titanium dioxide products for the cosmetics industry and through TRI-K we can expand our offering, especially in skin and hair care. Furthermore, we will strengthen our presence in North America through the addition of TRI-K’s sales and distribution network.”

Headquartered in New Jersey, TRI-K currently employs 50 people and in 2006 recorded consolidated revenue of approximately $20m.
